I'm Katie. I am the coolest person you will ever meet. And I am quite humble.
In reality, I am a twenty-four-year-old girl. I graduated from Fresno State with my degree and teaching credential. I've officially joined the "adult world," getting an actual, for real teaching job - 4th grade in Sanger. Best. News. Ever. So I'm doing what I've wanted to do since I was in the third grade...be a teacher =)
I have the best dog on the planet - Izzie. She's awesome. I collect sugar packets. No reason in particular, but one day I started and ever since, people have been giving them to me so now I have them from all over the world. I have grand plans to one day display them in some way, but until that comes to fruition, they remain in an airtight container in my closet. I listen to music constantly. I firmly believe that there is a time, place, and mood for every possible type of music, though, more often than not, I listen to rock, alternative, punk, and folk musicians. I get a kick outta grammar [though I am sure that there are at least five mistakes in this.] I pronounce "either" with an "eye" not an "ee". I also do not say the "T" in the word "often". I do this mainly because I feel that it makes me sound smarter. I obsess. A lot. And I over analyze. Everything. I have the habit of eavesdropping, not because I'm nosy, but because I can hear really well. Though, I am little bit nosy, too. I unconsciously count my steps when I walk, even while in conversation or thinking of other things. Whenever I hear a song, I see the artist and title displayed in my head, a la a music video on MTV or VH1. I enjoy doing crossword puzzles and even when I cheat to find the answers, I feel a sense of accomplishment. I love trivia. I love the outdoors and doing anything and everything while outside, including, but not limited to: hiking, rappelling, whitewater rafting, swimming, and exploring. I do not have any unusual talents. I could easily fall in love with someone because they use an impressive word, surprise me in a good way, or do something nice for someone. If my history is any indication, it seems I make it a rule to only fall for boys who are pure trouble. I also find myself falling more deeply for characters in books than I do for actual boys (I <3 Ron Weasley, Holden Caulfield, Locke Lamora, Jean Tannen) Sometimes, I want to fast forward my life to when I've settled down in a location with a family, because I worry about my future. I can be very manipulative, but at least I admit to it. I keep calendars of events in my life. I save old ticket stubs from movies and concerts. I love the feeling I get when I look back over my life, with the help of little mementos. I go to antique stores and buy the memories of others in the form of old black and white pictures. My parents dole out some of the best advice I have ever heard and if you're lucky I will pass it on to you. I have an irrational fear/aversion to bananas and some sounds [i.e. fingernails on a chalkboard, knives on plates, etc.] My four years of college are the only experiences I had in a public school, as I went to private Catholic school for thirteen years. This is also mainly the reason why I am not currently religious. I chew gum constantly, leading me to believe that I have an oral fixation. Three summers ago I went on a trip to Australia and Fiji (volunteer work and adventure tour with ISV - International Student Volunteers) and I'm pretty sure it will remain, for some time, in the spot of "The best trip of my life". I am proud of my background and sometimes I miss the Bay Area. The people in Fresno scare me with all their conservatism and their organized religion. I love my friends. Every last one of them. They are home to me.
{Me} = that's me in a nutshell.
Someone smarter than I [read: my dad] once told me, "Every good movie is enhanced by the accompanying music, every good life needs a soundtrack. Music has the power to put you in a different place, to lift you when you’re down and to travel you in time. There is a whole world of musicians creating a soundtrack for your movie. Fill it with good scenes, stuff you won’t have to edit out."
